Pizza Pinwheels

I wanted to do something a little different and fun with our pizza night, so I decided last minute, to roll up the pizza and make pinwheels! For some reason, they tasted even better than regular pizza in a boring triangle shape!

The pizza dough is super simple to make and it comes out nice and fluffy. I plan on making bread sticks with it in the future!

PIZZA DOUGH INGREDIENTS:

Makes 2 pizzas!

*5 cups unbleached all purpose flour

*2 cups warm water (105-110 F)

*1 tbs active dry yeast

*2 tbs olive oil

*1 tsp italian seasoning

*1/2 tsp garlic powder

*1 tbs sugar

*1 tbs salt

For the Pizza Toppings

*1 Bag vegan cheese (I used Daiya Cheddar and/or Mozzarella Shreds)

*Pizza Sauce

*Your favorite pizza toppings!

DIRECTIONS:

See images below to help guide you!

  1. In a bowl or glass measuring cup, add water, sugar, and yeast. Whisk a few times, cover with a towel, and let sit for 5-10 minutes until a nice foam appears at the top. If a foam doesn’t appear, either your yeast is expired, or your water temp was too hot/cold.

  2. In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, add remaining ingredients and mix a few times.

  3. Once yeast is ready, pour into the mixing bowl and knead dough for 5 minutes. Remove dough (you can just hold it in one hand), spray the mixing bowl with a cooking oil, and replace the dough.

  4. Cover and let sit to rise. It will double in size and takes about 20 minutes in a warm area (preheat your oven to warm, then turn it back off. Put bowl of dough in oven for a nice warm environment to rise).

  5. Cut the dough in half and roll out one half into a rectangle on a floured surface. Add your sauce and other preferred pizza ingredients to the entire surface of the dough. Repeat for the other half of the dough (perfect for people who want different pizza fillings!)

  6. Preheat oven to 400

  7. Starting at the narrow end, roll the dough up into a log. Cut 1 1/2 “ slices and lay them flat on a greased baking sheet.

  8. Bake for 15 minutes, remove, add a little more cheese, then bake for an additional 5 minutes.

  9. Check dough for done-ness. Cooking time will vary depending on the amount of ingredients you added to your pizza.

  10. If you have any leftover pizza sauce, heat it up in a bowl and add a sprinkle of garlic salt and italian seasoning. It makes for a perfect dipping sauce!

  11. Enjoy!

These are perfect to put in your kids lunchbox or yours! They are fun and easy to eat!

Keep cooking, friends!
